“You’re sleeping again, Fuyuki.” A man’s voice echoed inside the young boy’s head. “Fuyuki. Fuyuki! FUYUKI!!!” His eyes snapped open as he looked up at the man before him. It was his private tutor from Japan, Sakurai Sho, a famous idol and a close friend of their father. He appointed Sho as their private tutor after their last tutor resigned two years ago. Fuyuki and his two older brothers, despite being Japanese, have been living in Australia and have been home-schooled all these past years. Every week, Sho flies back to Australia from Japan to teach the three. Of course, their father takes care of everything for his dear friend.
“S-Sorry.” The young boy answered, lowering his head in embarrassment. “You’ve been playing video games the whole night, weren’t you?” Sho asked, tapping his foot on the perfectly tiled floor. Fuyuki simply nodded his head. Sho sighed and turned his back from the child and headed towards his desk. “A 5-page essay regarding today’s lesson for the three of you. Hand them in next week on our next class.”
Fuyuki slammed his head on his desk the moment Sho left the room. “Do you even know what today’s lesson was?” His eldest brother, Harumi, asked. Harumi could tell from the glare that Fuyuki gave him that the answer was a big “No.” The older boy rolled his eyes and said, “Fine. I’ll help you with it. What about you, Natsuki?” Harumi turned his attention towards the other boy beside him.
“I’ll be fine, don’t worry.” Natsuki replied while fixing his stuff. He was the middle child and he was very smart. He always manages to do everything on his own, especially when it comes to studying. He was the most quiet and timid among the three. His voice was gentle and soft. The oldest, Harumi, was a pretty young man. People often mistook him for a girl even when they were little. He was a talented musician, particularly with the piano. People around him often tell him that the way he moves was too feminine, and he was as delicate as a glass figurine. Fuyuki, the youngest of the three, is actually a mature-thinker, despite his young age. He’s quiet at times but he used to complain a lot. He’s got a bad temper but he’s also got a funny character in him. He’s also very talented when it comes to video games.
“By the way, Harumi…” Natsuki suddenly said that afternoon while having a snack at the garden with his brothers. “Hm?” The older boy turned his head towards his direction. There was a short pause, only to be interrupted by Fuyuki’s impatient outburst. “Geez, Natsuki. Just spill it.” He saw his brothers frown at him for a while before Natsuki continued. “I was wondering…What if we turned down Dad’s decision about making us succeed his company?”
This time, it was a long pause. Harumi finally broke the silence and replied, “I’ve been thinking about it too.” The two of them turned to Fuyuki. “W-what?” He answered, a bit confused. “What do you think about it?” Natsuki asked again. “Well…Frankly, I’ve had enough of this rich kid life. I want to know what it’s like to live like a normal kid.” The three of them looked at each other with smiles on their lips. It was as if they knew what was on each other’s mind. “Let’s go.”
“Airport?! What are the three of you doing at the airport?” An angry voice yelled from the other line. Harumi had to hold his phone a few inches away from his ear to avoid getting deaf from his father’s yells.
“We are so dead. Dad’s mad at us.” Fuyuki mumbled behind Natsuki while the latter just gestured for him to shut up. “We don’t want our lives to be controlled by you any longer, Dad.” Harumi stated in a calm, yet serious tone. He heard his father sigh from the other line. “That’s impossible, Harumi. You three won’t survive out there without my help.” He sounded so sure of himself. Harumi, even though he knew his father wouldn’t see, frowned disapprovingly. “Then let this be our challenge to you. We will prove to you that we will be able to survive a normal life without your money. We will survive with our own strengths.” After that, he hung up. Smiling at his brothers, he said, “We’re off to Japan.”
Just as Fuyuki was gathering all his things, he accidentally bumped into someone. “Oh, sorry.” He immediately said. The person just looked at him. “Uh..sure. Just be careful next time.” He watched as the boy picked up the last of his bags, as if waiting for a reaction from him. But the boy was called by another boy older than him, probably his brother, and left. Raising his hands to his hips, the person said to himself, “Doesn’t anyone in here know who Kamei Taku is? They’re Japanese, aren’t they? How could they not know me? Have I been away from Johnny’s for that long already?” Shrugging, Kamei just headed out of the airport.
The plane left Australia on the said departure time and arrived at Narita Airport in Tokyo, Japan a few minutes late from the expected arrival time. The three stepped out of the plane and out into the land of Japan for the first time in their lives. A new adventure awaits them in this place where their fates take a brand new turn.
